Headshot of Asia Kai Spence

Asia Kai Spence (she/her)

Miramar, Florida

University of Florida, Graduate Certificate in Aquaculture and Fish Health

Asia Kai Spence is a graduate student at the University of Florida pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Aquaculture and Fish Health. Her coastline stewardship project focuses on sea urchin restoration and the role of Diadema antillarum in helping restore healthy coral reef ecosystems. She is interested in understanding how restoring sea urchin populations can reduce algae, support coral recovery, and improve overall reef health. This work matters to her because of her strong connection to Jamaica’s coastal ecosystems and her hands-on experience working with sea urchins, coral reefs, and marine research. Outside of CFCN, Asia enjoys scuba diving, exploring marine ecosystems, and learning more about coral reef restoration and marine conservation.
