Lilyan Abu Soufeh (she/her)

Amman, Jordan

Ibn Rushd National Academy, 12th Grade

Lilyan is a grade 12 student from Amman, Jordan, with a deep passion for marine and freshwater ecology. She has spent years doing hands-on work including water quality sampling and species identification, and has led community plastic pollution cleanups along the Red Sea. For her CFCN coastline stewardship project, she is creating an illustrated coastal-life guide for kids ages 8 to 11 living near Aqaba, covering the region's coastline, why the ocean matters, and the birds, fish, and invertebrates that call it home so the next generation grows up understanding what is right outside their door. This work matters to her because Jordan's coastline is small but irreplaceable, and protecting it starts with people actually knowing what is there. Outside of CFCN, Lilyan enjoys SCUBA diving and plans on getting her PADI license soon!
